"My early career as an Environmental Specialist both at the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Georgia Environmental Division gave me an early perspective of the importance of obtaining a good educational foundation in science. Although I enjoyed science research, I found that my passion was really in helping others learn about science and understand the application to the world around us. Throughout my 35 years as an educator, I have sought to make learning science engaging and interesting to students and guide them to develop a firm foundation for future learning. As I tell my students, learning is a life-long process and having a basic understanding of science and scientific processes is key to their success in many endeavors throughout life.
I enjoy hiking with my husband and my three children and their families. My seven
grandchildren keep me very busy in my spare time doing science experiments and watching them play soccer, tennis, and swimming."
